Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whanau,
Re: Senior College (Year 11 – 13) students returning to school
As a school we have been monitoring the situation with our Senior College students very closely during the last week.
It is now at a stage where it appears manageable to staff, with most of our Senior College students being able to engage with on-site learning at school from next week (week 9).
We believe it is important to have the Senior College students back at school before the upcoming school holidays and feel that we will be able to manage staff and student absences adequately during this time. We know that many of our Senior College students manage their learning well at home on their own, but we also know that some do not and that they would prefer on-site face to face learning. This is especially true for those who take practical subjects.
As a school we want to ensure we are supporting ALL students with their academic achievement, as well as their wellbeing and success as a young person in Christ. It is essential that ALL Senior College students attend school on the days listed below, unless they are sick or isolating.
This return to school for Year 11 – 13 students will occur in a staged approach as follows:
Week 9 (beginning Monday 28 March):
Each Senior College Year level will return to school for TWO days only for on-site learning:
Year 13: Tuesday 29 March & Wednesday 30 March
Year 12: Wednesday 30 March & Thursday 31 March
Year 11: Thursday 31 March & Friday 1 April
During these days – school uniform is to be worn, normal timetable will operate, and masks are mandatory for students when indoors.
On the other THREE days of week 9, Senior College students will continue their remote learning at home via TEAMS with work set by their teachers, however there will be no live lessons during those 3 days.
Week 10 (beginning Monday 4 April):
Each Senior College Year level will return to school for THREE days only for on-site learning:
Year 13: Wednesday 6 April, Thursday 7 April & Friday 8 April
Year 12: Tuesday 5 April, Wednesday 6 April & Thursday 7 April
Year 11: Monday 4 April, Tuesday 5 April & Wednesday 6 April
During these days – school uniform is to be worn, normal timetable will operate, and masks are mandatory for students when indoors.
On the other TWO days of week 10, Senior College students will continue their remote learning at home via TEAMS with work set by their teachers, however there will be no live lessons during those 2 days.
Week 11 (beginning Monday 11 April): Last week of Term 1
All Year 11 – 13 students are at school for FOUR days (Mon – Thur). Friday is Good Friday (Easter).
It is envisaged that school will finish at lunchtime on Thursday 14 April for ALL students, Years 1 – 13.
