The Fiesta this year was again held at the end of November (on Friday the 27th). Despite a week of warm and dry weather the forecast was for wind and rain, but in the event there was neither! The evening went smoothly, unhampered by the weather.
As always, an army of parent, staff and community volunteers made the event a huge success. The usual stalls all did a brisk trade: the food tent, the White Elephant, clothing, books, and produce, but there really was something for everyone, including the live auction, face painting and rides on a grunty touring tricycle. A favourite activity, though, is still Dunk the Teacher!
Around $29,000 was raised and considering this is entirely based on volunteer effort and goodwill, this is an outstanding result.
Fiesta is an important event in the school calendar that brings together the entire community, and while raising funds is obviously a focus, so too is the fellowship, the fun and the unity that comes with working together.
This annual three-hour event is actually a year in the making! Special thanks to Robyn Bosma and Ruth Irvine for their months of hard work, prayer and organisation over several years of successful Fiestas. They are now handing on the baton of Fiesta co-ordination. We are still looking for a new Chief Co-ordinator. Any takers?
