There are many areas in which students may be gifted, intellectual, creativity, expression, social/leadership, culture-specific abilities and sport. Highly able students from Year 1 to 13 are identified by the teachers early in the year, so that programmes and courses can be arranged.
The co-ordinator for highly able students then interviews them and creates individual programmes, with the help of the class/subject teacher. Some programmes are run within the school, for example older students studying Art can teach a group of Primary students over lunchtime, and some students will attend courses and workshops outside school.
Staff are provided with material and ideas to stimulate and extend highly able students in their classes.
